Our latest project is a perfect example of that philosophy: a breathtaking 2000-litre mixed reef aquarium installation featuring a remote plant room housing a fully integrated life support system (LSS).
What truly sets this installation apart is that the entire 2000-litre aquarium is suspended from the ceiling, creating a dramatic floating effect that transforms it into a striking centerpiece. This innovative design not only maximizes floor space but also offers 270-degree viewing, making the tank feel like a living sculpture suspended in mid-air.
This project was commissioned for a private residence with a vision: to create an awe-inspiring focal point that seamlessly blends beauty with advanced aquatic care. The client requested a vibrant, mixed reef display that not only showcases the brilliance of coral and marine life but also ensures long-term sustainability and ease of maintenance.
At the heart of this installation is a precisely engineered 2000-litre display tank, constructed from low-iron, optically clear glass to provide the most natural viewing experience possible. Designed to accommodate both SPS and LPS corals, as well as a diverse range of reef-safe fish, the aquascape was carefully planned to promote natural coral growth, water flow, and visual depth.
One of the standout features of this installation is the remote plant room — a dedicated space completely separate from the main display area, housing the full life support system. This includes:
A high-capacity protein skimmer
Dual-stage mechanical and biological filtration
Automated dosing system for calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium
Temperature-controlled sump system with backup heating and chilling
Advanced lighting and controller systems with cloud-based access
Redundant return pumps for safety and reliability
The remote location of the plant room ensures that noise and maintenance operations are kept out of sight and sound, preserving the serenity and aesthetic impact of the display tank.
We equipped the system with remote monitoring and smart automation features, allowing our team and the client to oversee water parameters, lighting schedules, and equipment performance from anywhere in the world. This provides peace of mind while reducing manual intervention and ensuring optimal conditions for marine life around the clock.
